Guys, Buzz Bissinger hates political correctness. He hates it so much, that he purposely threw in non-politically correct (read: racist) comments about semi-superstar Jeremy Lin of the New York Knicks in a piece for The Daily Beast, Bissinger wrote:
WARNING ALERT: THE FOLLOWING MAY BE CONSIDERED POLITICALLY INCORRECT AND INAPPROPRIATE ON SEVERAL LEVELS. REPEAT THIS IS A WARNING ALERT.
IF YOU ARE OFFENDED, SKIP OVER, OR LIGHTEN UP AND GET A LIFE.
YOU CAN HANDLE THIS.
He has not solved Michael Vick’s dog-killing problem that continues to make him the most hated athlete in America, although he could by opening a Vietnamese-style restaurant with him and carefully planning the menu together.
It is here we would like to mention that saying “Hey I am going to say racist things now, so when I do, you can’t complain,” is such a shitty, lame excuse. Also, “warning alert”? Really? That’s not a thing.
So of course, some people had problems with this, such as Helen Gym (long, but worth reading), and … Spike Eskin? Eskin took to Twitter to say, you know, that was stupid of Buzz to say that, and Buzz disagreed. The whole chat is here, and it’s even longer than the Gym piece, but it’s super useful if you forgot how much of an asshole Buzz Bissinger is.
