Today In #occupyphilly: Mr. Nutter, Tear Down This Fence!

In solidarity (which is a word we had hoped we were done typing for a while) with the Occupy Oakland protests, hundreds of Occupy Philly protesters seemingly tried to “retake” Dilworth Plaza last night. According to The Daily News, the OP people gathered at Love Park around 7PM and marched to 15th and Market, “forcing police to close 15th [street] briefly.”

The rally resulted in two arrests for the publicly dormant group. So what does this mean? Is this just a one-off thing? Is phase 2 of the occupation right around the corner? Can we stand to write about this anymore? We know the answer to one of those questions.

While I appreciate your coverage, as snarky as it may be, I do need to offer a couple of points of clarification. First, we marched through the streets of Center City for about an hour before ending up in front of Dilworth.

Second, although we have not had an encampment we have been quite busy for the past couple months, even including several actions in broad daylight for all the world to see. Occupy Philly 2.0 began on November 30th.

And yes, spring is right around the corner. So never fear, hipsters of Philadelphia, we will provide you with a bounty of fodder for your cynicism. Plus, what are you complaining about? Anarchist chicks are hot.

again the question from antiquity remains unanswerable – which came first, the occupy or the blogs?
