In a world where the divide between the most popular sports in this country and the second-tier is growing ever-wider (and MLS making it case for inclusion above both the NBA and NHL), the sale of the 76ers is not really big news. This is partially due to the fact that it was announced a while ago and is just now going through, partially because of the lockout, and partially because a lot of people just don’t seem to care anymore.

But what makes us care about something more than famous people? According to Philly Deals, the new team of owners includes Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith along with frequent Smith collaborator and producer of mediocre films James Lassiter. Here’s to hoping whatever happens to the Sixers from here on, it’s a lot better than Hitch.
