Tuesday, September 6th, 2011

In something straight out of a Guy Ritchie movie, 6 ABC is reporting that a man was robbed at gunpoint in Northern Liberties of a briefcase containing $30,000 in cash. Haven’t the movies taught us that briefcases with that much money should be handcuffed to the carrier?

The Daily News Covered The Cops Vs. Cameras Debate

Tuesday, September 6th, 2011

Over the holiday weekend, The Daily News ran a cover story about the whole cops vs. cameras thing we covered a little while ago. The kid who sent us that letter a while back was featured in a sidebar which we can’t find online, but the whole story is worth a read anyway.

Recommended Listening: Howard Stern’s Phone Call In WYSP’s Final Hours

Tuesday, September 6th, 2011

On Friday, when both Howard Eskin retired and WYSP flipped to WIP, Howard Stern rang up Spike Eskin (even more shades of strange) for a chat, which you can listen to here. The chat is notable for a bunch of reasons. Pick one: The death knell of rock radio, Spike Eskin’s tentative plans for what [...]

Bookspace Feels The Mighty Hammer Of L&I?

Tuesday, September 6th, 2011

Bookspace, the charmingly gritty DIY venue we told you about back in May, seems to have been knocked out of the events game (for the time being at least), presumably by L&I. We first started hearing this as we were closing up shop on Friday, and attendant event cancellations seem to confirm that. So was [...]

This, like most sports chats, will be in advance of a European tour set to start Friday [...]

Unlike Most Hastily Written Notes From The Police, This One Is Best Read In The Voice Of An Exasperated Teenage Girl

Tuesday, September 6th, 2011

Though there was no info about it on the streets yesterday or, as best we can tell, on the PPA website, meters were indeed free yesterday. Or maybe they weren’t. The quotation marks around that “Yes” could also be read as sarcasm.

Fact: You Are Literally A BAD CITIZEN If You Choose The Naked Bike Ride Over Bike Philly

Friday, September 2nd, 2011

This Sunday, a bunch of Philadelphians (to say nothing of a handful of suburban thrill-seekers, we presume) will gather for this year’s edition of the Philly Naked Bike Ride, which is what it sounds like — a nudity-encouraged bicycle ride through Center City. The following Sunday, what we hope will be even more Philadelphians will [...]

Friday, September 2nd, 2011

So let us offer a possibly premature but still warranted kudos, then, to those among us who are planning to protest the various [...]
