For Immediate Release: KABBALAH : THE MUSICAL!

Editor’s note: While we will be previewing events for the 2011 Philadelphia Live Arts Festival & Philly Fringe (Sept. 2-17) as the festival dates draw nearer, we felt it necessary to exorcise the demons in our inbox, as well as impart the prevailing wisdom: The Live Arts stuff is usually well-thought-out and interesting, but the Fringe is the direct result of what is now generations of children brought up with their parents telling them that everything they ever did was awesome. If you’re new here, brace yourself.

Theatre Exile’s The Aliens, starring Jeb Kreager, looks promising. And Sebastienne Mundheim/White Box Theatre should not be underestimated. Brian Sanders’ JUNK is debuting a new piece. Not everything is awful.

    “Not everything is awful.”
i agree. i think a lot of the work has merit. i just can’t take it all stuffed into 1-2 week period. “art” overload.

Hey, there is so much happening that is fantastic, you just have to be willing to go see it! How about Aggrocrag’s A Series of Tests? Or the Paper Garden, that’s FREE and 35 minutes, there is no reason not to go. Or how about Found Theater Company, or Kelia Cordova Dances? There are about 300 shows, so yes, some of them are the worst and unwatchable, but some of them are spectacular, so throwing up your hands and not seeing anything just deprives you of some amazing experiences. And art overload is part of the fun.
