Philadelphia Belle Paying Back Some Customers
The Philadelphia Belle, which went out of business without warning earlier this summer, has started paying back a few of the people who had paid money to reserve events on the boat. There is so far no word on the whole last-minute Groupon thing, the Belle’s parent company, CI Travel, Inc., has begun shelling out some money.
The Daily News‘ Ronnie Polaneczky reported that CI Travel began by helping a couple who had paid nearly $19,000 to have their wedding aboard the ship get a new location, at no cost, and gave them two free round-trip airline tickets to anywhere in the United States. After this, three more people who had big money events lined up have begun receiving refunds from the company. We don’t know if it was Polaneczky’s doing, the company’s conscience catching up with them, or something else that inspired this. Either way this is, in fact, good news.
