This Evening: Kevin Bacon, Rotting On The Roof Of Whole Foods

>>> The good people of the Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia will be hosting a Bike-In Movie Screening of the absurdly awful Quicksilver on the roof of Whole Foods at 10th and South this evening. The film, if you don’t remember/can’t forget, stars our own Kevin Bacon as a yuppie who decides to give it all up and become — ooh, hahahaha — a bike messenger. It boasts an 8% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes. Yes.
>>> And in the world of dudes standing around playing records for one another: Unknown Pleasures, the new gay night at the Barbarella; and Riff Mountain, at Kung Fu Necktie.

halfta say, tho, as a 15-year old with his first pair of biking gloves, I must’ve seen Quicksilver 3 or 4 times. There was a time when all of us were 1986. S’not something I’d like to revisit.

We had 90 people out last night to watch Kevin Bacon in his time of need. Thanks to everybody who hung out with us on the roof. Next time, we hope to show a movie that doesn’t kill off the only actor seemingly enjoying the movie (Laurence ‘Larry’ Fishburne) in the first 30 minutes.

There is something to be said about a bike race that tares
Through the hills of San Fran straight up 6th ave nyc back to LA.
    Takes guts!
