Readers Write: Local Gay Superhero Scores Gay Media Trifecta!

I may be a little biased as he’s a friend, but it’s shocking that no one is covering Brian Sims (pictured) right now. He’s former policy director at the Philadelphia Bar Association, the state prez of Equality PA and the prez of Gay and Lesbian Lawyers of Philadelphia (yes, is called GALLOP).

Right now he is completing a national gay trifecta:
-he’s the featured story on the HRC blog
-he’s got the featured post on The Advocate.com
-he’s is also the feature profile on Manhunt.net, the largest gay hook up site

As if that all weren’t enough, today, he’s in Notre Dame. The college has never recognized any of its 13 or so GLBTQ groups that are on campus. Today, they are all putting on the biggest Rally for Diversity at the college ever. Brian is meeting with all of the university top brass, including the president. And then he will be the keynote at the rally. It will be pretty historic.

Again, I may be biased, but if there were ever a gay superhero from Philly that deserved coverage, Brian is it.

Truly impressive! Daily News, do you dare to put a gay superhero on your cover? We just double-dog dared you! C’mon!

Not to rain on anyone’s pride parade, but actually the national gay trifecta is:
    - New Orleans’ Labor Day weekend “Southern Decadence” festival, AKA “Gay Mardi Gras”
    - NYC’s “Black Party,” the best attended gay dance party in America
    - a feature profile on on Manhunt.net, the largest gay hook up site.

But one out of three ain’t bad. Regardless, Sims is a real asset to the community and it doesn’t hurt that he is damn fine.
