Attn. Local Bands & Video Nerds: “Miracle On The Delaware” Now Available For Your Manipulation

Cal Jones‘ slice of life in Philly circa 1955, “Miracle On The Delaware,” has been on this site before, in all of its schooltime filmstrip glory. However, we just discovered that it’s now also available on archive.org in a host of downloadable formats, which can only mean one thing: It’s a race for local bands to appropriate it for easy video material. Ready, set, go!

    My observations:

    - Geez, look at how bustling Trenton, Wilmington, and Allentown are.

    - People thought Levittown was cool.

    - Look at all the white people.

    - Cars may have been less efficient in 1955, but they sure looked better.

    - Maybe we’d all be better off if people dressed up for sporting events instead of wearing lame t-shirt jerseys (yeah, I’m guilty).

    - Hey, the Philadelphia Athletics!

    - Say what you will about the cheesiness of this film, but if you were going to make a pro-your-city video today, what would it look like, and would it age any better? Have you seen Sioux City’s video? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gj7_E5Tpdhs

I thought the same- Athletics! Tho’ I guess it was old footage since they moved to KC after the ’54 season.

Yeah, that Sioux City video is…something. Maybe we could get the Steak-Em-Up guys to do one to keep up.
