Not content with having ruined Christmas for the Dude, the Philly chapter of AIDS activist group ACT UP is bracing for the worst and getting ready to attend Nutter’s budget address to City Council today. The budget Nutter will deliver today is in some ways a theoretical one in that it could change completely based on Governor Corbett’s state budget, which is set to drop a few days later. But the Philly chapter of ACT UP — which has been campaigning for nearly two years to force the City to invest in housing for people with AIDS — isn’t expecting much either the theoretical budget Nutter will deliver today or post-Corbett, where cuts are expected and dreaded. In the meantime, they’ll be in Council chambers today, hoping for a $2-4M miracle.
