Dept. Of Evil Geniuses: The Philly Church Parking For Atheists Website

This site allows you download parking placards that are used by some church-goers to park in otherwise illegal No Parking or No Stopping Zones, during services or other church events. This service is provided for entertainment purposes only. Any unauthorized use of the materials contained herein is not sanctioned. This is not an endorsement of parking illegally on sundays to go to brunch or engage in any other secular activities.

Philadelphia, we fucking love you. Don’t ever change.

Isn’t the UU one already church parking for atheists? Hm, guess atheists have to park elsewhere occasionally.

I’d like to see one for the church on Gray’s Ferry– you know, the one that blocks off AN ENTIRE LANE OF TRAFFIC on Sundays and makes GF into a two-way, one-lane street.

The church parking thing drives me crazy. Why the hell are people driving to churches in dense urban neighborhoods? Shouldn’t all their parishioners be in walking distance? And don’t you fuckers have Presbyterian churches where you live? And why does the City give them special treatment that it doesn’t give to businesses or residents of those neighborhoods? I probably know the answers to all of these questions, but I feel compelled to ask them anyway.

[The PPA] shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion…

The way it is in our neighborhood, the parishioners’ kids moved to burbs and return weekly to attend church, take parking spaces and oppose development.

I’m pretty sure you don’t actually need these placards on Sundays, the PPA doesn’t do much enforcement.

Oh I definitely got slapped with a ticket when I first moved to Philly and didn’t understand it was a special godly privilege to park in a traffic lane.
