At Monk’s, August is the Cruellest Month
We love Monk’s. We love their frites, we love their Belgian beer, hell, we even know what hot dog toppings co-owner Tom Peters would take to a desert island (and they’re wild). That’s why we were pained to hear that a SEPTA bus crashed into the pub (after being hit by a Delaware River Port Authority police SUV) around 2 a.m. earlier today. It seems that August is becoming a hazardous month for Monk’s: Last year, a couple fell off a fire escape above the bar. The man was killed and the woman was injured. No one was killed in last night’s bus crash, though the bus driver and two DRPA police officers suffered minor injuries.
