PSA: Your Support For Jay & Tobias’s Wild Selfless Ride Would Be Greatly Appreciated

They were badasses with hearts of gold, the legend will go: Philly boys Jay Hardman and Tobias Canfield who are about to embark on a charity motorcycle drive to the very bottom of South Africa. The ride is called Enduro Africa and the money goes to UNICEF, Sentebale- The Princes’ Fund for Lesotho, the Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund and Touch Africa to help children affected by HIV/AIDS and to stop or slow the transmission of the illness from mother to baby. But about that ride: On the 5th day of the 12 day journey, these guys go off-road on their bikes, riding through some of the most poor and also beautiful areas of South Africa. The downer is, our heroes have to have raised all of their money by the end of July (or they can’t participate) and they are about a quarter of the way away from reaching their goal. Keep in mind, Hardman and Canfield are the only representatives of the East Coast and a significant portion of the 5 riders or so from the U.S. who are participating (who are a pretty small part of the 90-100 participants overall.) Which is whack, right? Isn’t motorcycle riding about as American as apple pies, cross burnings, the liberty bell and high fructose corn syrup? I think it is. Therefore, let’s represent, Philly. They’re throwing a fundraiser (read: party) at Jose Pistolas this Saturday from 3-6pm. There’s gonna be music and drink specials, it doesn’t cost much (and its a suggested donation) so go. Because it’s pretty cool that Philly biker dudes are doing this kind of stuff.
