   I keep thinking of the scene at the end of “The Great Santini” when the son is worried that his prayers for his father to die– due to his abuse over the years– may have finally floated up and hit Robert Duvall’s F-4 and caused it to crash…

   I just imagine a bunch of tourists in the water in life vests honking on those damn quackers to be rescued. I, of course, realize that this is wrong, but it keeps on cracking me up.

   Most are familiar with some of the horrid local accents, language even, of our region. In fact, the audio on this video has caused my ears to start bleeding. Most are aware of how annoying the Duck Ride is.

   However, to make light of such a tragedy between the headlines & commentary further demonstrates the disregard/disrespect most in this region possess as well…ultimately worse than poor enunciation and grammar in my opinion.

   But I guess since the 2 missing (presumably dead) Hungarian passengers aren’t from Fishtown or No. Libs. it’s no holds barred, so whatever; right?

    it is absurd that anybody from Hungary would come to Philly for vacation.

    it is absurd that a barge and an amphibious touring vessel would collide here in the 21st century.

    it is absurd that a pair of adults would have such a grammatical inability to convey news of this disaster to emergency response crews.

    it is absurd that you think i give a rat’s ass about anybody from Fishtown or Northern Liberties.

    I’m not laughing that people died in our shitty river.
    I’m laughing at some of the absurdities involved.
