Ask your friends who work in arts orgs: In the middle of this recession thingy, they’ve all been doing more with less. And as brave a face as that is, let’s send congrats to the recipients of this year’s Engage 2020 Innovation Grant Program, a new grantmaking initiative from The Wallace Foundation, The Pew Charitable Trusts and The Philadelphia Foundation. According to this piece in today’s Philadelphia Business Journal:
Eight organizations are slated to receive grants of $75,000: Art Sanctuary, Curtis Institute of Music, Fairmount Park Art Association, First Person Arts, Philadelphia Mural Arts Advocates, Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, People’s Light & Theatre and Walnut Street Theatre. New Paradise Laboratories will receive $65,218 and Mendelssohn Club of Philadelphia will receive $50,625.
So there you have it: The world is not totally made of shit. Have you got some good news? If so, send it to tips[at]philebrity[dot]com with “GOOD MOTHERFUCKING NEWS!” in the subject header — we’d love to hear about it.
