Reader Sarah Peoples really brought her A game when it came to doing this map of one of the City’s oft-overlooked ‘hoods, Brewerytown. “Brewerytown is an amazing neighborhood deserving of recognition.” says Sarah, and we think you’ll agree.

Ha. Coldest beer in Philly. That place is doing nobody any favors.
This is the rosiest picture of my neighborhood I have ever seen. What about Playmakers/28th street lounge? You know, the corner bars that actively and loudly fight against gentrification every night?

Print it up and sell it.

Brewerytown does not exist. It is one of those fallacies created by boring real estate folk. Ugly modern townhouses with stainless steel appliances and granite counter tops does not a neighborhood make.
Strawberry Mansion, yo.

Brewerytown may be many things, but it is not a real estate “fallacy”. It has been known by that name since it’s brewing heyday in the late 19th century: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brewerytown

That vet on Girard is a miracle worker. Also, don’t forget Sedgley Woods for all your 420 disc golf needs!

Sorry “jc,” that 1 crappy block is Brewerytown Square, a small development project and not the larger neighborhood of Brewerytown…which has existed for a long long time…BETWEEN Strawberry Mansion and Fairmount.

WOW. Artistically, I’d say best map so far

ERA is on 28th, not 29th…BUT this map is still way rad…and ERA is still one of the city’s great hidden dive bar gems. Go to ERA.

brushingup: I put on shoes and left the house to check when I saw that. There’s no sign of it. Does she know something the rest of us don’t?!?!

Mugshots is being built now. BTW, this map, while not completely accurate, is still rather awesome. Well done.

also, you can catch the 32, 48, & 7 (going south) @ 29th & poplar (north @ 27th & poplar for all 3). does anyone know of any laundromats in this area??
March 30th, 2010 at 12:55 pm
there’s a launromat on girard between 25th and 26th. its all right. its not the prettiest place but the machines work and it’s got a decent jukebox.
