Speaking Of WTF: Jersey Shore Makes People (Heart) New Jersey
It might be too early on a Monday to fully wrap your head around these stats, but according to a national Fairleigh Dickinson University poll, 60% of people who have seen MTV’s Jersey Shore have a positive view of New Jersey, whereas a mere 44% of those who haven’t seen the show have a positive view of the state. Approximately 20% of those polled had a negative perception of the Jerz, regardless of whether they’ve seen the show. In other words, it looks like Jersey Shore viewership has actually raised favorable opinions of the state by 16% — somehow, without increasing negative opinions. This gives an entirely new meaning to the “Snoooki Bump.” C’mon, Chris Christie, put those kids on the state payroll already. “Goodwill Ambassador JWOWWWWW” has a nice ring to it.
