Film Sweat: Police On His Back

RECOMMENDED: From Romania comes Police, Adjective, a Kafka-esque dramedy directed by Corneliu Porumboiu. (You Romanian film buffs might remember him from 12:08 East of Bucharest.) Following the travails of an undercover cop who’s unwilling to arrest a pot-smoking teen, knowing full well that by the laws of Romania, he’d do seven years in the clink for just a joint, the movie weaves in and out of the overlapping zones between ridiculous laws and the real world. (Sound familiar?) Police, Adjective has been hailed by critics all over the globe, and finally comes to Philly after a good long stint on the festival circuit.

ALSO NEW IN THEATERS: Edge Of Darkness, in which we must all face the question, “Did anybody even want a Mel Gibson ‘comeback’?”; and When In Rome, a romcom with Kristen Bell, some Seacrestalike, and the crazy skinny jawn from Entourage. Good luck with that.
