Philly Cheesesteak-Server Now Appearing on the Real World XXIII: Washington D.C.

How could we have overlooked this? The twenty-third season of The Real World Washington D.C. has been airing for nearly a month, with Josh from South Philadelphia as one of the eight to break all of the predictable sexual and emotional RW boundaries. Josh, bearing a strong resemblance to Lenny Kravitz, works at an undisclosed high-traffic cheesesteak establishment, and is a self-proclaimed “Puerto Rican/Italian glam rocker/rapper.” We almost immediately wrote him off (a possible Jersey Shore understudy?) until we saw the home footage of him blowing out candles on a cake with his unmistakably South Philadelphian mother, clad in patchwork pants and an American flag/peace sign tank top. “You can see yer brudder on TV naow,” she said to her other son. Maybe we’ll be watching after all. But after episode 3′s sneak peek, maybe not.

Same old characters with different names; I think that’s great TV and great for the city.

I’m very vaguely acquainted with this guy’s girlfriend. Apparently she appears in one episode when she goes to visit him.
