Last time we checked in with Dawn Stensland — former FOX29 news anchor and wife of Larry Mendte — she was Facebooking her pain away and awaiting whatever came next. Well, that next thing could very well be a GOP run for Congress in the 7th District. Which is just so crazy it could work: Stensland racked up a lot of points with people all over the area with the graceful way she handled the whole Larry Mendte/Alycia Lane saga, and FOX29′s recent pass on renewing her contract made Fox look a lot worse than Stensland. So the question becomes: Would enough other long-suffering Republican wives vote for Stensland to have her topple Pat Meehan? Well, think about where the 7th District is for a second, and then join us saying, “Oh, hell yes.” Does it matter that Stensland has no political experience, or even a discernible platform to float while she’s busy not-denying that she’s gonna run? Probably not. Just think of her as a Sarah Palin who has a soul and who can read. In today’s GOP, that pretty much makes her a potential miracle worker.
