The Comcast giveth, and the Comcast taketh away. Just a day after the cable giant’s NBCU deal was finalized comes the news that Daily Candy, another Comcast acquisition, is axing all but five of its markets, including Philadelphia. That puts Philly Daily Candy editor Meredith Lindemon out of a job, and thousands of subscribers without daily news on what to eat, rub into their faces or tell people they’re doing.

Why would they axe them? Outside of the editor’s salary, does this cost a lot of money to produce?

I take offense with your characterization of the girls who read daily candy. I happen to be one of those girls who also reads your blog every day. News flash. All those cute indie rock girls you went to college with ten years ago – they have good jobs and lots of disposable cash. We might like our jimmy choos and la perla bras, but we know enough about indie rock to make your head spin, care deeply about philadelphia politics and still break out the thrift store chic outfits for a show once in a while…
