This Evening: Congrogulations, Philadelphia!

>>> For what? For making a Thursday night that’s probably better than the last three Saturday nights combined. Nice work, but now you’ve got your work cut out for you and it’s time to make choices: Do you start out at Philebrity’s Sailor Jerry Grog Party at National Mechanics from 5-8PM (we just called, they’re making the grog NOW!) OR, do you go to the Rittenhouse Square Christmas Tree Lighting, also at five? DECIDE QUICK!
>>> Then, there’s Elvis Perkins In Dearland at Sanctuary of the First Unitarian Church. May I say a few words about Elvis Perkins? He has this song called “Moon Woman II.” It sounds like the music they play when you die in a movie where Nick Nolte is your alcoholic father and he’s not sorry, but the woman who loves you (let’s call her “Charlotte Gainsbourg”) but is impossibly tangled up in many bad situations at once is. I had a dream about this song the other night, where pretty much the whole song was re-enacted with total faithfulness to the lyrics and it was starring all people I know. Elvis Perkins, thank you for “Moon Woman II,” even though it pretty much scares the living shit out of me.
>>> And as we mentioned yesterday, there’s Espers at Johnny Brenda’s with Azita and Doug Paisley.
>>> And finally, The Dirty Boogie DJ night returns to 700. For those who’ve never been, this is a night full of dirty saxamophone music featuring old men hollering about hot skillets, fine mamas, and how they spent the rent money on whuskey. There is no reason for you not to go to this. NO REASON.

can we please start referring to whiskey as “whuskey”? it seems so much more appropriate to the nature of the drink, somehow.
