And Now, Today’s GOOD NEWS: 400 New Jobs Makin’ Solar Panels Down At The Navy Yard!
Hey, you know what’s awesome? THE SUN. And over in Greece, there’s this company called HelioSphera that makes loads and loads of solar panels, which take the awesomeness of the sun and turn it into ENERGY, which is also awesome. And now, guess what: HelioSphera is coming to Philadelphia, where they’ll have a manufacturing facility down at the Navy Yard. And according to the Mayor’s Office, the Heliosphera U.S. facility represents a $500 million investment and will create a 500,000 square foot facility with a 60,000 square foot clean room. The plant, which will produce 1.2 million solar modules per year, will be built on 40 acres in the Navy Yard Research Park which is a Keystone Innovation Zone. What that means is this: 400 jobs (and another 200 for the construction) and the chances for ladies who work in Urban Outfitters corporate — just across the Navy Yard campus — to meet cool, working-class eco-studs without even having to go to the Barbary. How’s that for GOOD NEWS? Right? Right? Unintenionally hilarious HelioSphera corporate video (mostly in Greek) after the jump.
So there you have it: The world is not totally made of shit. Have you got some good news? If so, send it to tips[at]philebrity[dot]com with “GOOD MOTHERFUCKING NEWS!” in the subject header — we’d love to hear about it.
