Open Thread: Alright, What Are You Turkeys Thankful For This Year?

We’ll get it started. Philebrity is thankful for:
· the fact that all we have to do is type the word “bicycle” and 50 comments magically appear instantly.
· the selection of olives at both DiBruno Bros. in the Italian Market and the South Street Whole Paycheck.
· that moment last night at the 700, around 10:15 or so, when everyone just decided it was the holidays. It was beautiful. And then everybody got really drunk. We’re also thankful that the Internet is not a bus and that it won’t just leave without you if you don’t make your first posts before noon.
· you, our loyal readers.
· our interns and contributors, especially Collin Motherfucking Flatt, Conor Goddamned Corcoran and secret Philebrity staffer Miss Dana.
· all of our friends who came over on Sunday for Friendsgiving, and Ruthie for making a turkey that could make a grown man weep and, as the Rolling Stones say, a dead man come.
· our advertisers, our friends at Weblinc/National Mechanics, people who let us do things, and people who come to things when we do them.
· and lastly, this bottle of Pepsi. God, you’re doing me wonders, little guy.
Now you!

I am thankful that Maggie Serota linked to this story on Facebook. The internet is the gift that keeps giving.

I’m thankful that I have a job, and double-thankful that it’s one I love, and triple-thankful that it’s with people I love. I’m thankful for good friends and family and their good (fingers crossed) health. I’m thankful for Hamachi Tacos at Distrito, walks home from work, coming home every day to a loving pup, Scrabble for iPhone, and the world’s sweetest beau.

I’ve got a lot to be thankful for, but I’ll start with the bowl of butternut squash risotto I just ate, my red Schwinn that gets me around town with the greatest of ease, and, in that vein, for the freshly (if unnecessarily) paved streets of South Philly. A freshly paved street is a joy to ride upon.
In addition to family, friends, job, health, blah blah blah, I am very thankful for this motherloving city. Philadelphia, I salute you.

i’m thankful for: my amazing friends and family, who helped me make it through the death of a loved one this year and just generally put up with an awful lot of bullshit from me.
for the Royal Tavern, and all the awesome folks who work there.
for Drink Up Buttercup, Hoots and Hellmouth, Toy Soldiers, Marc Silver & the Stonethrowers, Black Landlord, Dr. Dog, Man Man, The Roots, R5 Productions, Dave P., Johnny Brenda’s, The Fire, and every single other person/group helping to make Philadelphia an interesting place to live for people who love music.
for the fact that our trash and recycling is still getting picked up every week.
for all the folks out there fighting for a single-payer healthcare system (or the closest we can realistically get), fighting for equality for the queers, fighting to keep animal abusers from looking like heroes, and fighting to bring our troops back from the death and the desert.
and lastly, for my dog Trevor who pretends he doesn’t like me but still wags his tail every time i come home and sleeps on my feet at night.

I am thankful that real Americans are coming together all across this country to turn back an evil that is attempting to destroy The United States of America.
God bless the patriots that are opposing this Marxist President. Much has been accomplished and much remains to be done.
