Is The Incoming Beanie Sigel/Jay-Z Beef Even Worth Discussing?
Now listen, Beanie Sigel, you my man and the whole fifty grand, BUT… are you really trying to drag Jay-Z into some antiquated beef thing? Really? Let’s put it in perspective here: Jay-Z is on the Forbes list. On the other hand, Beanie might have shot himself to get press a few years ago. But whatever, dude: Keep shooting. A few weeks back, Beanie dropped a track called “What You Talkin Bout (Average Cat)”, aimed squarely at Jay, who at least up until very recently, was the man in charge of putting out Beanie’s records. On that track, Beanie spat the line “I’m a grown-ass man/I don’t sit on [n-word]’s laps,” which is kinda funny, because come to find out that now, Beanie is perched squarely on the lap of 50 Cent! The two just released a snippet of the collab track “I Go Off” — obligatory Jay diss: “The rap gorilla, the wack rap ringtone killa” — which may or may not be released on 50’s label, G-Unit. (Listen to bunk snippet at right.) This would mean, of course, that Beanie went directly from the arms of one monolithic hip-hop suitor to another, less awesome (and pretty much irrelevant) monolithic hip-hop suitor. Which is lame fifty ways to Sunday. To recap: Jay is on the Forbes list. Fitty was sent packing by Kanye West, of all people. Beanie wears hospital gowns, sometimes when he doesn’t even need to. You can see where this is going.
