This Just In: City Employees To Revolt Against “Mayor Cutter” On Friday And Not Work (Which Makes This Friday Different How?)

The document above, sent in by a tipster, was apparently being handed out yesterday in front of the City’s office of Licenses & Inspections (L&I). But like those “ALL SENIORS TAKE OFF ON FRIDAY” stunts people were always trying to get going in high school, it seems unlikely that it’ll take hold, especially when you consider that the document above contains more words than your average city employee reads in a year. Which begs the obvious question: Is this some reverse-psychology shit where, in fact, “Mayor Cutter” penned this thing himself so he can finally start swinging the axe? A very unpleasant part of our souls almost hopes so.

OMFG – not the ‘treat us with dignity’ line again… of course, my favorite line is “No one will RESPECT you if you don’t RESPECT yourself and demand to be treated RESPECTFULLY.”

    yea.

Look what happens when you let extortionists win. Now every Tom, Dick, & Harry wants in at the action.

I’m very concerned that city workers are “literally being crapped on.” Literally, someone is crapping on our city workers. This must stop!

I literally wish that people would literally stop literally using the word literally literally the wrong way…figuritively speaking, of course.

Of course, it may all be an elaborate ruse to get off for Friday the Firkenteenth at Grey Lodge Pub: http://www.greylodge.com/fri13th.html

Tae Bo? For real? They can’t even afford pilates videos? Now I *am* concerned.

Also kind of ironic because most City employees are enjoying a mid-week holiday today!

I do think that the SEPTA strike set a bad precedent in terms of the management (ie US THE TAXPAYERS) caving, but you can’t blame them for wanted to get a freakin’ contract already.

As I understand it (someone correct me if I am wrong), the Firefighters and Police either have no contract or it will be expiring soon. Get ready for some fireworks, folks. Nutter was basically powerless with the TWU but he is going to be tough on these guys–I mean, we’re broke.

  9. Daisy Steiner Says:

@barryg, Philly Firefighters and Police contracts are worked out through arbitration hearings. Police was throughout the summer and Firefighters are coming up soon. They’re legally not allowed to strike.

It’s the white (DC 47) and blue collar (DC 33) unions that are the ones who can strike and who were probably sending out that letter today.

And hopefully it was the same people who are in this commercial who were handing out the flyers.
