Dept. Of Dyn-O-Mite! Thelma, Michael And J.J. From Good Times Reuniting At Liacouras Center

If, like me, one of your first memories of This Life On Earth was watching Good Times — which chronicled the adventures of projects-bound kids Michael, Thelma and James Evans, Jr. (also known as “J.J.”) — with dear old dad, take note: Ralph Carter, BernNadette Stanis and JJ Walker, who respectively played those roles, will be reuniting in Philly next week. The occasion is the October Gallery’s Philadelphia International Art Expo, held on November 13, 14 and 15, which celebrates the Gallery’s 25th anniversary in the African-American art business. The rest of the bill is even better: The O’Jays, The Delfonics, Harold Melvin’s Bluenotes and The Intruders will be performing as well. No word on whether Black Jesus/Ned The Wino will be on hand as well (see clip at right) but hey, there’s something to be said for the element of surprise.
