Readers Cameraphone: A Whole Lotta SEPTAFail

One reader sends us two photos this morning. First up, while the noble rank and file of SEPTA strike, thereby keeping kids from their schools, old people from their doctors’ appointments, and workers from their jobs, you can rest assured that at least SEPTA won’t be taking up any extra parking spac– oh wait. Sorry.

And on the Regional Rail lines, things are running at the usual SEPTA levels of super-timely and babysmoove:

Meanwhile, trains burn and talks stall. To paraphrase that douchelord Adam Duritz, it’s gonna be a lonnnng November.

After my evening constitutional run yesterday I have begun compiling a list of unintentional beneficiaries of the SEPTA strike. So far:
    Sunoco
    PPA-they have to be banking!
    personal injury lawyers
    anxiety therapists

please feel free to add more.

And a note to Philadelphians, so many of whom are new to this whole “pedestrian” thing. As Goofus and Gallant taught me in Highlights magazine so many years ago in the dentist’s office, walk no no more than two abreast so as not to block sidewalk traffic.

Saw those signs on the news last night. Heard they are spots opened up by the city for the general public to accommodate all the extra drivers.

Taking the R7 in from Mt. Airy this a.m., they made the following announcement on the P.A. – “The next train to Center City is reported approximately 30 minutes behind schedule. Passengers are advised to take alternate means of transportation.”

I just laugh, because if I didn’t I’d have an aneurysm.

    Also…@schmoe Cab drivers. Big time.

Those parking signs are absolutely extra spaces. Some of the new ones include the space from the end of the parking meters to the corner that is typically left open for buses making turns. There’s a ton on Callowhill.

@schmoe: bike shops have to be winning right now. there has been a huge increase of folks on two wheels compared to my regular daily commute.

SEPTA’s “trainview” gives even more insight into the regional rail clusterfuck: http://trainview.septa.org/

And I would bet that, just like the periodic updates to their Twitter account, these delays are all within a huge margin of error.

I seem to remember an issue of Highlights in which Gallant was offered a generous raise for working his paper route and he graciously accepted and donated part of his new-found windfall to charity. However, Goofus foolishly refused the overly generous terms while angering the townspeople who couldn’t get their news as well as lemonade stand operators who made far less than he did.

ha i sent these in. i realized after i sent the parking one in, that it was probably spaces opened up for drivers…my bad!

i got up at 7:30 am and got to glenside at 10:30 via regional rail. sigh.

when i was at market east this am, they were cancelling entire routes left and right…burn baby burn!

What does Babiesmoove have to do with all this?
