On the ‘frillies’ scandal front: We got us a green muppet, sure, but the Yankees had this hardly closeted mascot (from the Wiki):

“DANDY – Dandy was a short-lived mascot of the New York Yankees. He was a large pinstriped bird that sported a Yankees hat. He had a mustache that gave him an appearance similar to that of former Yankee pitcher Sparky Lyle. … Dandy was beaten up by fans who didn’t want a mascot, and quit, leading to the elimination of the character as the Yankees chose not to replace him.”

The Inquirer noted in an article that Sonny Forriest Jr. was at the game last night in NY and that the Post’s putting Shane Victorino in a tutu on their cover the other day “perturbed me so much, I had to go ahead and sing my song twice”. Outside of New Yankee Stadium.
He wins.
