Everything Is Worse In New York — Even The Brain Drain

brain_drainLately, we’ve been thinking a lot about two things: The Brain Drain and, yes, how much New York sucks. These issues go together like peanut butter and chocolate in this NY Post story today which reveals that, however bad we perceive the Brain Drain to be here, New York’s got it much worse. From 2000 through 2008, a whopping 1.1 million people relocated from NYC — including the 2.7 New Yorkers per day who were, for a time at least, moving here. (We’d love to see some updated figures on the NYC-to-Philly migrants during this, The Great Recession, if anyone out there’s got ‘em.) The cost to New York is much the same as it is here: Lowered tax revenues (most people who are moving in are in a lower tax bracket) and the sense that anyone around has any idea what they’re doing when it comes to building new businesses in the city that are meant to last. Only, in New York’s case, more so. Comeuppance for photoshopping The Flyin’ Hawaiian into a cheerleader skirt, or is it merely the wages of the Disneyfication of NYC? You know, we just can’t say.

Can you even compare the two cities in this regard? I love Philly, but I visited New York yesterday and even in the most homogenized areas of midtown, it’s obvious that New York’s lake of human capital overwhelms Philly’s Dixie Cup.

You fucking idiots fail to grasp that it is runaway taxation that is driving the producers to leave these socialist utopias. Socialism is a vicious circle that depends on politicians demonizing anyone who succeeds in order to justify stealing their money to redistribute to the non-producers.

Socialism is a cancer on a productive society. That means that YOU are a a cancer on society. Do the producers a favor and end your miserable fucking existence

FUCK NEW YORK!!!!! Whimsy, I love you but from some one born and raised in the Empire State please shut up about this!

New York is gaudy opulence, bullshit, and arrogance.

    Philly all day.
