Who Was Sirmone McCaulla And Why Did He Kill Himself In Philadelphia?

On Sunday afternoon, in front of the James A. Farley Post Office at Eighth Avenue and 33rd Street in midtown Manhattan, 20-year-old Christopher Gutierrez was stabbed to death in broad daylight, following an altercation wherein Gutierrez and another passerby bumped into one another and argued. The next day, the NYPD released the photo above, taken by a tourist on the scene immediately following the attack, identifying 28-year-old Sirmone McCaulla as the lead suspect in the murder. And then, last night at around 6PM, McCaulla was found dead in an apartment here in Philadelphia on Pine Street. So what happened here? By all accounts, McCaulla was a Brooklyn native who’d served in the U.S. Army; after he was discharged, he resided in Harlem and drove for FedEx. How did he wind up in Philly? And what drove him to stab a total stranger on a busy street in Manhattan? Will we ever know?
