This Weekend: Aloha Bro-ha

bikepoloFRIDAY:
>>> Verily I say unto thee, Summer of ’09: Don’t let the door hit you in the ass. You were crammed with death. You made us perspirate dissatisfaction. You offered little relief, and you were a bad tipper, too. Suck it. On the plus side, you could basically park it in Fishtown (actually, more specifically IN THIS OFFICE) and not have to go very far to have a great Last Weekend of the Summer. Of course, there’s Philebrity Happy Hour at Octo, followed by any number of First Friday doings (including “FIVE DUDES” here at 2424 Studios), and then of course it’s the first night of the Live Arts & Philly Fringe Festival. That’s a lot of stuff.
>>> After that, let out all the steam at Robotique at Kung Fu Necktie (simply the best neighborhood deep disco party this side of 1977), Sex Dwarf at Fluid, 4AM at Silk City, or — look at you, Fringe-ing it up at Festival Bar! (Schedule here.)

SATURDAY:
>>> Things that are not sports: Sexting. Rollerblading. West Philly freegan co-ops. Things that are so very sporting that they’re like MULTIPLE SPORTS: The Hardcourt Bicycle Polo World Championships, which start up tomorrow and have an afterparty here again at 2424 Studios that is going to be hella fun.
>>> Or go to any/all of these England Belongs To Twee‘s “Back To Uni” party at KFN again (see what I mean?); Ten Commandments at Barbary; or, Sondre Lerche at World Cafe Live.

SUNDAY:
>>> Benjy Feree with The Black Hollies and The Cobbs at Johnny Brenda’s! Making Time Pool Party with !!! at that crazy Bamboo Bar place! Bob Barbara’s Backyard BBQ!
>>> Plus, all those Sunday Night parties you never go to otherwise: Feather Mills @ 700, Night Train at P.Y.T., and so on. Hey Summer ’09: See ya. Wouldn’t wanna be ya.

I never thought I’d see a body shot at a Philebrity-listed event, but I was wrong.

    Otherwise, !!! was great.
