Readers Cameraphone: Love Is Just Like A Baseball Game
This guy was rolling up and down E. Passyunk last night singing into a megaphone and hocking his CD ($5). Is he a known quantity around here? First time I’ve caught his act. I would’ve run out and bought a CD myself except, uh, I was in my TV pants.
OK, a few things here. One, my man is singing “Love Is Like A Baseball Game” by The Intruders (and if you do not have Cowboys To Girls: The Best of The Intruders, you need to get that shit, like, NOW). And he’s not doing a bad job of it, either! I know you were in your TV pants and all, but you shoulda lowered a bucket down to the street with a fiver in it and gotten the dude’s CD. You could play it for dinner guests! Two, yes, we have seen his act. He’s pretty amazing. Tell the truth: Dude has a nice voice.
Also, have you guys gotten your rage on yet about the giant electric snowflakes and lack of sidewalk trash bins that Fumo left behind? (Maybe it’s just me.)
Well, no, and here’s why: We love year-round electric snowflakes (we’re pretty sure there’s still a bunch of ‘em all over NoLibs, too) and we’re pretty sure those aren’t Fumo’s fault. At least not citywide. And as for the lack of sidewalk trash bins, look: We’re in Fishtown, where, a few months ago, they finally installed one on the corner. Just yesterday, we spied a guy sidestep the bin altogether and stuff a bag full of McDonald’s trash INTO THE GUTTER WHILE USING THE TRASH CAN AS LEVERAGE TO BEND OVER. All’s we’re saying is: Some people won’t use the tools you give them even if they are better and smack dab in front of their faces. The good news is, my man in the wheelchair here does not seem to have that problem.

I first saw him in a Dashiki singing R&B going up 38th Street last year. I later found out his history. I hope Sonny’s doing well, it certainly seems like he’s enjoying himself.
