Our buddy G.W. Miller III has a riveting (and yeah, pretty heartbreaking) story in this week’s Philadelphia Weekly about Asian kids being the objects of a rash of random, hyperviolent beatdowns in Philadelphia Public Schools, and how the School District of Philadelphia has done basically fuck-all to counter them. And the elephant in the room here is possibly even worse: It’s basically one group of minority kids (in this case, African-Americans) torturing the shit out of other minority kids (Chinese, Vietnamese, Cambodian, Pakistani and other Asian youth) for reasons that are only known to the God Of Fucked Up Things. But if we can speak to, you know, the kids for a moment, we’d just like to say this: Leave the Asians alone. And the Gays, too. If you’re going to school in Philadelphia, chances are, these are the coolest people in your school. Those are just facts. And in point of fact(s), you should actually buddy up with these guys. These are the kids that are going places. We’ve seen your neighborhood, and we know your parents. Is this really the long and the short of it for you guys? Same old shit, same old things, same old… metaphoric or real death? Aw, come on. If the answer to any of these is “yes,” then why are you even going to school?
