This Weekend: You’re Very Beautiful

FRIDAY:
>>> July 2009, we hardly knew you. Actually, we did get to know you a little bit, and while you were not as bad as July 2008, you kinda sucked in your own special ways. You know what I’m talking about. But allow us to focus on the good things you brought us, no? Sundays (and then Wednesdays) in Penn Treaty Park! Advances of loads of fall records! Tomatoes on the roof! The Tour de France! ___________________ ! You kinda brought out the beast in us, brah. Fare thee well. I’ll remember you in deep November as I sit by the fire with a glass of Chateau Neuf-de-Pape and listen to Nico.
>>> When I say these names, how can you possibly think of anything but the phrase “STARS AFTER STARS AFTER STARS?” Lil’ Wayne. Young Jeezy. Soulja Boy. They’re at the Susquehanna Bank Center. Yahh, trick, yahhhh. Elsewhere: Soft Power, which is Mary Timony‘s new band, with Gildon Works at Kung Fu Necktie. And, hey, not for nothing, this Foreign Born band that’s playing at JB’s tonight with The Veils? Very good in a Walkmen/French Kicks kind of way.
>>> Or, dip in with the art set at the PIFAS Place closing night party.

SATURDAY:
>>> Not busy? Unemployed? Got ideas for things? Go to DIY Days Philly, and then report back to us how it worked out for you. It could change your life!
>>> The Totally Raging In The Round Pool Show with Dan Deacon, No Age, Deerhunter at the Flying W Pool Parties Thing. Some of these Captial Letters are Mine, and some Came From The Promoter.
>>> What is it that is just like so fucking A right-on about the concept of Soft Rock Day In The Piazza? Is it what a fool believes? It’s just right down the line. Or maybe, it’s just, like, hello, it’s me.
>>> Hey everybody who got so crazy (on the pro-bike side) in that bike lane post the other day: Wanna go to a benefit for the Bike Polo peeps?
>>> And finally, England Belongs To Twee. It’s so much better than you could ever think it could be.

SUNDAY:
>>> The You’re Very Beautiful book release and afterparty at Sundae in the Piazza with Dave P and Sammy Slice at the Piazza. See video above.
