It Takes A Nation Of Mayors To Hold Specter Back

The above ad (view it larger here) ran today in both the Philadelphia Inquirer and the Pittsburgh Post. Signed by 106 PA mayors — PA has 106 mayors! — it takes Democratic senate candidate Arlen Specter to task for proposing to gut currently-existing PA gun laws aimed at getting guns out of the hands of known alchoholics, people convicted of stalking, people impersonating a police officer and other folks who may not be the worst people in the world but who are also, let’s face it, damaged goods and should not have free reign at the Glock Store. Mayors from all over the Commonwealth signed it, including Mayor Michael Nutter and Pittsburgh mayor Luke Ravenstahl. But we’re thinking what might really get to Specter might be the 104 in the middle, who lord over those famously bitter Pennsylvanians who cling to their guns no matter what — or do they? Their immediate representation would seem to suggest otherwise. Find out more at mayorsagainstillegalguns.org.

PA currently has reciprocity with i think 14 other states as far as purchasing a handgun is concerned. theres actually a workshop (obviously illegal) in west oak lane where they teach you how to get a Florida ID under an assumed name, buy a gun in FLA and then ship it to Philly. THEY TEACH A FUCKING CLASS. i know a cop who had pulled a dude over and he had a handgun on him. he showed his FLA ID and they had to street him…unreal.
