Dutch Country Roads Jingle Will Enter Your Brain, Never Leave. Download It For Free!
Has the following scenario happened to you in the past few weeks? You’re cruising in your car and flipping through the radio stations, when suddenly a pleasant female voice catches your ear. “Oh, Dutch Country roads…” You listen for a few seconds, hoping against hope that this time it’s a real song, but once again, the narrator interjects and starts extolling the virtues of a vacation to Lancaster. Yes, you realize dejectedly, it’s still just a commercial.
But perhaps, just perhaps, this mysterious catchy jingle could be a snippet of a song by an up-and-coming indie musician, right? That hope drove us to visit the Dutch Country Roads advertising campaign’s website in search of more info. About halfway down the homepage, under the “Welcome to Dutch Country Roads!” heading, we saw it: “Want to start a trip with a smile on your face? Listen to a tune about our unique area.” This could be it! We clicked the link and added the file to our iTunes library. But 39 seconds? That doesn’t bode well for it being a “real” song (though we’re not saying that it can’t be done). The vocals kick in: At least it really is the song from the commercial. Two short verses and two choruses later, it’s all over, and we’re left with visions of homemade pies and cannon fire dancing in our heads. Unfortunately, neither the file nor the website contains any additional info about the singer or the song. It sure is quite the earworm, even if its aim is strictly commercial.

I was pretty sure that was a re-imagining of that Feist song:

Seems pretty close. They’re both earwormy.

Nice song…makes me want to take that long, bumpy road from Bird In Hand to Intercourse.
