This Weekend: Oh Sweet Nuthin’
FRIDAY:
>>> Is the weather trying to apologize for June? I think so. It’s cool, we forgive you, weather. If we knew in June what you had in store for us now — beautiful breezes, epic skies, gorgeous sunsets — we wouldn’t have gotten so depressed and gotten so wasted all the time. Now, you’re like thee Weekend Pick, and we feel stupid for being such whiners. We just got word that Tommy Up’s new spot in the Piazza At Schmidt’s, P.Y.T., just passed all of its L&I tests and will open its doors at 6PM tonight for the first time ever! To this we say: Mazel Tov, yon Thomas! Don’t mind if we swing on down and say so in person, and have a drank; menu goes live in a week or so.
>>> Meanwhile, Sorted! is back at The Barbary, paying tribute to The Clash, who always were/are/always will be our Jesus. Elsewhere, TuPhace plays TLA with Elevator Fight, Tigersapien, Fat City Reprise and DJ Sammy Slice; and Jack Rose does an early show at Brickbat Books. Summer lull, I think I love you.
SATURDAY:
>>> But I wanna know for sure; so come here and hold me tight. You move me. Punk Rock Flea Market @ Starlight Ballroom, you make my heart sing. You make everything… groovy.
>>> We sang the praises of (and leaked a track by) The New Time a few weeks back. Here’s an update: We still love them. The band celebrates the release of their new EP, An Incomplete History, tomorrow night at Johnny Brenda’s with North Lawrence Midnite Singers, Those Darlins and Sisters3. And that EP is really pretty good.
>>> Elsewhere: Check out the lost Nouvelle Vague classic Le Combat dans l’ile at I-House; get into Philadelphyinz at Medusa; or, check out the Northern Liberties Dance Band onstage at the Piazza.

Dear Philebrity,
I logged on and was overjoyed to see a video of Billy Stewart. My cube-mate and I share a love for this video and watch it often when the work day tries to wear us down. Just the way he tosses the mic…timeless.
Thanks for posting and sharing the summer love.
Philebrity – you never cease to amaze me.
Thanks,
MC

Wow…awesome videos. I don’t think I’ve heard those songs since I was a little kid and would fall asleep in the back of my parents ‘74 Plymouth Duster. Good stuff man!
