Alright, Who Keeps Stealing The Transformers Cafe Gear Out Of The City Hall Courtyard?

Transformers1 (7) [450x400]Remember two springs ago, when the cast and crew of Transformers II came to Philly and indulged UPenn in its long-held shame-fantasy of even being mentioned in the same breath as Princeton? That was awesome. Another awesome thing the Transformers II folks did was donate a whole palate of outdoor café gear to City Hall, after a scene was shot there depicting City Hall’s inner courtyard as a Parisian-style café. (Don’t snarf on your coffee, it’s not that implausible.) Fast forward to a year and change later: Out of the original 15 tables and 45 chairs given to the City, 6 tables and a dozen chairs have been stolen and almost every umbrella, PhillyChitChat reports. Which is sad in yet another this-is-why-you-can’t-have-nice-things way. But it also prompts a lot of questions: Who’d be so brazen as to lift furniture from City Hall, where security cameras and cops abound? Also, how would get this shit home? On the El? And then of course, there’s the elephant in the room: What’s the likelihood that these were stolen by City employees?
