Some people were "actually" speaking to neighbors.

I don’t get the disdain. I just moved into my neighborhood and I learned a lot from the messageboards.

I would agree that sometimes it was mindblowingly curmudgeonly, but it was a good resource. On the other hand, if you saw it as a way to get information about your own local community from people, it was pretty good.I live in Mt. Airy, and... well, there's not real pulse there, just a collection of people. Its the most diverse area in the city, and its hard to know whats going on there at all. PhillyBlog actually helped to learn what was on the mind of the people in the area, and it was pretty nice. Also, I don't think I would have been able to learn as much as I did about the South Street gatherings and such if it wasn't for it.It wasn't that bad, although it did have its problems and trolls and people who never learned basic net-etiquette.

Eh…

Just because its gone doesn’t mean that the mindset is, let alone places for people to post it.

If you saw PhillyBlog as nothing more than people around Philly to complain, then that’s all it was.
