Chaka Fattah On Michael Jackson: “He Was The Major Inspiration”
In the last few weeks, we’ve all seen a lot of public personages glom on to the press tide in the wake of Michael Jackson — from people who should know better and don’t really need the press to people who don’t, and apparently do — but surely, some special recognition needs to go out to U.S. Rep. Chaka Fattah who, in one press release yesterday, revealed that A) he’s every bit as desperate as Danny Bonaduce and B) that the fight against AIDS in Africa — specifically, via safe blood initiatives — wasn’t really on his radar until Jackson (and cameras, always the cameras) showed up on his doorstep:
“Michael Jackson was the major inspiration and motivator for my involvement in the issue of safe blood for Africa,” Congressman Fattah said today.
Really, Chaka? Michael Jackson was your major inspiration for getting on the AIDS relief bus, and not, oh, I don’t know, an abiding sense of decency? Whatever. Now we know, at least. Hopefully, Willie Nelson will show up in your office soon so you can finally get behind this whole stimulus thing. [h/t PhillyClout]
