This Evening: It Had A Good Beat And I Could Dance To It

>>> Do you like Natalie Portman’s Shaved Head (see video above), or would you like to rip off their neon-clad arms and beat them with them? We could see making the case for either. In any event, you’ve got two weeks to decide, as they do a semi-residency at the North Star Bar tonight, and then again next Wednesday. That should be plenty of time.
>>> Far less controversial: The Detroit Cobras, the dirty-prettiest lady-fronted garage revivalists in all the land. They play Johnny Brenda’s tonight with the Dex Romweber Duo (ex-Flat Duo Jets, forever immortalized in this clip from Athens, GA: Inside Out, OMG, just click that right now) and Philly’s own Love City. Jesus, how much WIN can you cram into one show?
>>> And of course, Dillinger Escape Plan at First Unitarian Church, but that will probably sell right out.

I went to see CSS at the Troc last summer and was blown away by NPSH (the opener). Their songs were entertaining and silly but the whole place errupted with a rare unified joy dance. They were a lot LOUDER than I expected and more energetic on stage than CSS. I think I actually like them a lot. They’re more rockers than hipsters. I’m there!
