This Just In: Wildlife Officials Tag City Hall Falcons, Remind City Council It’s Not Safe To Eat Them

Falcon me? Falcon YOU.

In case you didn’t know, wild Peregrine Falcons have been making a home for themselves at City Hall for the last three years or so. The falcons aren’t endangered, but they are scarce, after a round of DDT poisoning in the 1950s set their population back considerably. This morning, PA Wildlife officials began the process of tagging the City Hall falcons, before an audience of City Council and some press. Above, you can see one of the falcons being released as Richie Tenenbaum quietly realizes that he could never marry his sister, even though she is adopted.

fyi – peregrin falcons keep a hunting territory of about 2 square miles, making this pair of falcons the only diners at the pidgeon buffet that is Center City.
