City To You And Everyone You Know: You’re Going To Start Going To Franklin Square, And By Gum, You’re Gonna Love It. Or Else.
It seems that this year, more than any other in recent history, is Franklin Square‘s year. Since the park — which sits on a strange little slice of land between Chinatown and Old City — was rehabbed in 2006, it has had a PR push behind it that is just now coming to a head. When the park — which already boasted a carousel, a mini-golf course and a sweet fountain to boot — opened this spring, it came with the announcement that none other than Stephen Starr would be opening a burger stand there. (Now open, BTW.) Now comes the news that PATCO will be re-opening its old Franklin Square stop, which hasn’t been open since 1976 when, we assume, Franklin Square was probably kinda like this. Fun and games? Starrburgers? Easily-dispatched Jersey-ites? Weirdly, count us in. Last one on the carousel’s buying.

This is pretty much a case study on the future of Fairmount Park if they’re allowed to open them up to development.

i dont see that as being a relevant comparison. franklin square doesnt exist in a neighborhood like rittenhouse or washington. as such, it doesnt need to be an open space park. if putting mini golf, a carousel, and a starr joint in there is what it takes to bring people in, then whats the problem?
fairmount park does not suffer from bad location or lack of use

Is it me, or does Pacino look like Nico? Notice that Sween? Kinda made me chuckle.
