Philadelphia Will Never Have A High-End Rooftop Pool Club Because No Philly Hoteliers Are Imaginative Enough And No One Wants To Clean Up Hipster Semen

doubletree-pool1That’s the jist of this pretty illuminating post on The Illadelph, wondering why, at this late date, Philly has no answer whatsoever to NYC’s Soho House. It’s a question we find ourselves asking roughly a dozen times over each summer, when the heat/humidity index in Philly reaches the point where you can’t even get drunk anymore; and unless you can get yourself into a pool or high-octane hotel AC, you might as well just die. And we know from experience: Philly hotels just don’t have any interest in exploiting their pools — by and large, they’re happy to keep them under lock and key during parts of the day when so many would pay cold hard cash to use them. But still, nothing. If any of you hotel peeps are out there reading this, get at us: We can make things very easy for you. Over the table or under. However you want. Just let us in.
