Whole Of Philly Media Gladly Joined Other Hacks Last Week In Nationwide Game Of “Pin The (Long) Tail On The Twitter Donkey”

pinthetailDid anybody else notice how every news outlet in the United States did another “Oh, hey, Twitter exists!” story last week? You know, even though Twitter launched in ‘06, so there’s your time hook fucked, and most news outlets have already been hawking their own Twitter feeds for at least a year already. So why last week? Was there some kind of milestone Twitter had to celebrate? Nope, it was really something better and far more magical than that: Loads and loads of media hacks, all shitting out the same exact story in perfect unison. Here’s our quick, handy guide to Philadelphia’s contributions to last week’s Magical Twitter Shitheap. (And if you call it a “Twitheap,” so help me Christ, you’ll get smacked.)

  • Inquirer: Yet another proud moment at Broad & Whatever, as their Twitter piece contained this magnificent sentence: “Fact is, people will Twitter – and want to be seen Twittering – in the middle of almost any function.” This story ran on the front page.
  • KYW1060: Yep, Twitter exists alright.
  • FOX29: We mentioned this one twice last week. In a world literally overflowing with Banal “News” Items About Twitter, the Kerri-Lee/Dmac tweetfuck was definitely the pathos-laden, directed-by-Todd-Solondz, Oscar-worthy version of this whole El NiƱo of zeitgeist trash. Brav-o.
  • NBC10: Any piece of shit clusterfuck fake news on the real news piece you can do, NBC10 can do better.
  • We have a feeling there is more, but we’re afraid to keep looking. Kudos, Philly media: If this proves nothing else, it’s that we can all suck just as much as the rest of the hacks out there — if not, dare we dream it, even more.
