This Week On The Philebrity Player: Come Back To The Five And Dime, Bobby Dee, Bobby Dee

benjyferree-03-big.jpgDue to popular demand by you, the music-loving readers of Philebrity.com, we are pleased to bring back The Philebrity Player today. And we couldn’t be happier than to fire the ol’ Player up again with none other than Benjy Ferree pumpin’ outta your speakers. As you may remember, The Philebrity Player used to (and will again) launch each Tuesday, and feature a record we truly love of either national or local interest; labels or bands do not pay for this feature — we specifically seek out new music we love and want to bring to a wider audience, and then, we (band/label/Philebs) graciously allow you to live with the stream of said record for a week. Our friends at Apollo Audio provide the stream; you do nothing but soak up the vibes. And this week, what a record we’ve got in Come Back To The Five And Dime, Bobby Dee, Bobby Dee. The second album from Ferree, Come Back is a bombastic rock ode to disgraced former child actor Bobby Driscoll — a lot of the songs here sit somewhere between Queen and the White Stripes. We first heard them back in November at a live gig, and have been chomping at the bit for this record ever since. Drew Mills (Bloodfeathers) assists throughout, and well, just check out the doo-wop-as-told-to-T.Rex here:

Catch Benjy Ferree and his band this Saturday night, February 21, at M Room, and say hi; we’ll be the ones doing shots and shouting out “FEAR! FEAR! FEAR!” at the front of the stage. And if you’ve got a new record you’d like to suggest for The Philebrity Player, hit us up at tips[at]philebrity[dot]com. For if we cannot rock together, we cannot even walk together.
