Shigellosis? I Hardly Even Know Him!

shigellosis-cdc.jpgHey, remember a few weeks ago (or maybe even still) when everybody was throwing up all over the place and had gross fevers and other things? Well, yeah, that was apparently because a bunch of us were touching poop in a fashion not seen since 2003, and we all got exactly what we deserved. Meet shigellosis (pictured), unless you already have. This beast hit at least 600 people in ’03, and it would seem to be felling even more Philadelphians as we speak. The shigella bacteria (get a good look and then run a microscope over your whole body) causes diarrhea, fever, stomach pain, nausea, and vomiting. We know. How do you prevent it? Well, it’s like the Geator says:

And if you don’t know, now you know.

I had that in 2006. Awful. And it implies that some line prep cook somewhere wiped and didn’t wash, which I have never quite been able to get over.

Redd Foxx comes to mind, not Blavat:

    “WASH YO ASS!”
