Ted Passon Wants To Replace That Annoying Poster Girls Always Have In Their Dorm Rooms (And Later, Sad Cat-Filled Apartments Because Love Is Not Really Like This)
You may know Philly filmmaker Ted Passon from his various exploits, which range from storytelling to getting the city to rally behind him to replace the car he lost during the Phillies’ post-World Series melee. All of which we here at Philebrity have gladly cheered on — we like the way Ted is increasingly engaging the public with projects big and small, and you can dogear this Sunday for another Passon project that stands to stick in the memory of Philadelphians for a good long while. Passon is trying to amass as many couples as he can to make out in Love Park on Sunday for a commercial for Philly Tourism. Here’s the setup:
This commercial is for a new push of the campaign with a special Valentine’s Day twist. The filming takes place in LOVE Park and starts on one couple meeting at the Park. They immediately start kissing each other. The camera moves and we see another couple meeting and kissing . The camera continues to move and we see another kissing couple and another until we see a ridiculous number of couples all meeting and kissing at LOVE Park, as if everyone in Center City just stopped what they were doing and started making-out with each other.
We can’t tell you how many times we’ve wished for something like this to happen in real life (although really, we’d even settle for everyone breaking out into Bjork’s “It’s Oh So Quiet” at lunch). So we’re pretty stoked to see how this works out. And for those of you looking for the right way to ask that special someone out, opportunities to randomly make out don’t really come much more sublime than this. We say go for it.

Not to split hairs, but it’s not a “commercial” — people see that word and get all worked up.
But! It is going to be fun. Who’s coming out to kiss in the name of Philadelphia?
