Phashionista: A Plea For Tenderness (And Dollars)

Deep Sleep, where have you gone? You were our favorite place in the world to buy $125 WESC jeans — an idea which seems like a distant cotton-candy memory now. But the Deep Sleep blog hasn’t been updated since Xmas, the for rent sign is in the window, and yo, sign of the times.
But it doesn’t necessarily have to be. Let’s put this out there right now, and then again and again: Local mom-and-pop retailers, whether they’re selling clothes or coffee or books or blunt wrappers, are the backbone of so much of this city’s culture, and now more than ever, they deserve your love and money. We have an eerie feeling that this might not be the first store closing we have to post in this space, but before we do, let’s lay it out: Big chains deserve to die. Mom and Pops don’t. Patronize them now before you can’t anymore.

Local businesses that sell $125 jeans should also adjust their inventory to go along with the times. I would love to support more local businesses but unfortunately that kind of merchandise is just not affordable right now.
